Basic Function

This is for an adjunct pool that will be used to staff part-time adjunct positions for the 2013-2014 academic year.

The successful candidate will be expected to provide instruction in a full range of Clinical Nursing courses, such as, but not limited to, Medical/Surgical, Pediatric, Psychiatric, and Geriatric Nursing for RN and VN Programs.

This assignment will be teaching clinical in the hospital setting, Thursdays and Fridays with varying hours of 8-11 hour day shifts.

Other duties include: participating in student recruitment and articulation of programs; maintaining subject matter currency; developing and revising curriculum; using computer and multimedia technology; assessing student learning and program level outcomes; collegially participating in department, college, and discipline-specific professional activities.

Education and Experience

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate’s Degree in Nursing and six (6) years of professional experience as a Registered Nurse
    AND
  • One (1) year’s continuous Direct Patient Care experience as a Registered Nurse within the previous five (5) years
    AND
  • Current/Active California RN license and American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Card
    OR
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and two (2) years of professional experience as a Registered Nurse
    AND
  • One (1) year’s continuous Direct Patient Care experience as a Registered Nurse within the previous five (5) years
    AND
  • Current/Active California RN license and American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Card
    AND – A demonstrated sensitivity to students with diverse academic, socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds and students with disabilities.

Note: Degrees and credits must be from accredited institutions (Title V Section 53406). Any degree from a country other than the United States, including Canada and Great Britain, must be evaluated by an evaluation service.
